Hey there,

I'm a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Forest Resources Management in the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia. I'm part of the Silva21 project, funded by the NSERC Alliance Grant Research Program. I'm co-supervised by Dr. Nicholas Coops (UBC) and Dr. Alexis Achim (ULaval).

As part of Silva21, I work in collaboration with experts on climate modeling to produce consistent, fine resolution and spatially-explicit climate layers of historic trends and future projections for key variables at 12 research forests across Canada. I assess likely changes in climate at each site, providing insights into how the drivers of tree growth are likely to evolve over time. Once these climate envelopes have been developed they will be used with species distribution and stand dynamics modelling approaches to map the current and future growth trends of key production species, as well as the non-conventional timber species important for First Nations communities.

I am also the Scientific Coordinator for Silva21 where I act as a liaison between grad students, faculty members, provincial and federal government researchers and industry partners. I help to maintain HQP enrollment records and recruitment, program activities, budget, research progress and prepare reports and presentations for program leaders and stakeholders. I maintain Silva21's website development and promotion, communication of administrative and research highlights including reporting to NSERC.
When I'm not at school, you can find me at a local CrossFit gym or exploring BC to balance out patio beers and restaurant-exploring. I also work as a nutrition coach and help local businesses manage their social media.

I look forward to adding more content to my website, as my academic career progresses, so be sure to check back soon!

Talk soon,

Amy.
